An excellent (fictional, i think) autobiography of a Frenchman. Believing his life may be over, he recounts his most memorable moments in life. I have nothing but praise for what Joe accomplished with this story, turning a morbid telling of one’s life into something akin to a beach-side getaway. The sun, the surf, and a mildly talented ukulele player singing just for you. This story is anything but grim, as the main character, with a very heavy but pleasing accent, describes such a variety of life experiences that they couldn’t be anything but real. Some shockingly bizarre and others just typical enough to bring a knowing smile to your face, these tales paint the life of a humorous, artistic, and intimate man who experiences the best, and worst, life has to offer without skipping a beat.
